A diverse range of styles and techniques, choreograph with intention makes the best contribution to the Fire Conclave. “Fire Dance” does NOT mean only one kind of dance or only a small number of tools. Fire Dance is as diverse and wide ranging as the imagination of the dancer that lights up. It is human nature to evolve and the drive to move fire dance to the next evolutionary leap is no exception. Because of the diverse level of the membership of the Fire Conclave, some of you are already familiar with creating choreographed dances. While others are not use to thinking in this direction, it become a stretch (in a good way) of your creative mind. <br/> <br/> <br/>The dance can include any fire tool and is open to broad interpretation in an effort to encourage diversity and creativity from fire artists in the community. We give you frontage according to the size of your display or Theme Camp, and camping space behind according to your population. <br/> <br/>There are three main places we can locate your camp: on the Esplanade, on the next street out, or fully inside the Village (no frontage). If you are brand-new to Snowflake, contact the off-site Coordinator, Eric G, at eric@clevian.com and tell us your idea first... <br/> <br/>Esplanade camps <br/> <br/>Being on the Esplanade is definitely the Big Time. <div>Hey folks, <br/> <br/>Burner here - I work for Parks and Rec - assistant director at the Rainier Community Center. <br/> <br/>We're having a Halloween carnival for the kids down here - and I'm hoping to get some fire performers and possibly some burner art out to help entertain them. The date is October 27th, it's a friday. It would be a total of about an hour's commitment - and would really wow them. We would start the performance at about 8pm - after the indoor part of the carnival is over. <br/> <br/>The kids at the center are a super diverse crowd, and about 90% of them are on scholarship here. <br/> <br/>This is also a good opportunity for the burner community to get some brownie points with parks - the more they see us out doing good in the community, the more they will want to work with us for events, etc. <br/> <br/>please let me know if you are interested in coming down and performing on the 27th - or if you have any good ideas to add to this event. We are meeting someone in Vancouver who is taking our stuff and us down to Burning Man and back, and then holding onto our gear for us until a later date, so we dont' need to come back to Victoria with it all. <br/> <br/>We have 3 bikes, and a bunch of camping gear, (bins, cooler, roll of tarps). <br/> <br/>Our ride is leaving Vancouver late Wednesday or Early thursday, so ideally, we need to be there by Wednesday. <br/> <br/>We had a truck rental set up, they told us to call 2 days before we needed the truck to make the reservation, but now they've changed the rules on us. When I called, they told me that dropping a van at their Vancouver location was no problem at all. We called this morning at opening time to rent the van, and now they tell us that we have to bring it all the way back to Victoria again, and the price has changed. So I'm trying here. <br/> <br/>I'm headed out Tuesday afternoon (the 29th), either to drive straight through or do a quick overnight camp, either way, I plan to arrive Wednesday, the earlier in the day the better. I'm looking to share driving and gas costs. My car's a Subaru Forester, so it has a fair amount of room, and I'm also considering renting a small flatbed trailer. I'd like to leave the playa as late Monday as possible to try and avoid the worst of the exodus (if that ever happens), have a more leisurely drive back, camp at a hot springs maybe, back into the area on Tuesday afternoon or evening. <div>This is not good news, but it’s not done yet either. Here is the latest of what we know as of this morning. <br/> <br/>Yesterday I got a call from Shoshana Glick from out in Nevada. At around 3pm Saturday afternoon Nathan Esch and she were in a flip over accident as they were returning to the Playa with some supplies. Nathan was seriously if not critically injured and Shoshana also received some much less severe injuries. <br/> <br/>Nathan is still unconscious and in intensive care with a very serious head injury. <br/> <br/>Shoshana is physically alright. She was in the hospital briefly. <br/> <br/>Nathan’s father has been notified and he's on his way to Reno. He is also in touch and updating us as he learns more. <br/> <br/>Kitty and the rest of Nathan's camp on-Playa have been notified by other Burners who were en-route and the BRC folks in Gerlach are in touch. <br/> <br/>To answer some questions, Nathan Esch is the Nathan who was sent to Afghanistan, returned over a year ago to participate in his first Burning Man as a Playa Cruizer and has been part of the Seattle Burner community ever since. Recently he a ton of work organizing the parking for Critical Massive as well as walking his first regional Ranger shift last weekend. He was given the Ranger handle "Boing Boing" at Critical Massive. <br/> <br/>Shoshana is with the Temple Whores. <br/> <br/>Ali, Nipper, Corprew, Diem and I are coordinating information as we learn it. We will keep the lists up to date as well.
